About

Most databases have tools that create citations in several formats, including APA. For articles in EBSCO databases (e.g., MEDLINE, CINAHL, Consumer Health: Nursing Academic) you can use the Cite tool to copy and paste citations, then edit as needed to match your assignment requirements. Always check the citation references for accuracy with the print style manual and your professor's requirements.

See: opens new windowCiting Sources Library Guide for more citation resources and examples.

Citations in EBSCOhost

In an EBSCO database, such as MEDLING and CINAHL, use the Cite link in the "Tools" menu on the right sidebar. Note: The "Tools" menu is only available on the item record; it is not on the results page.

Changing the Title Case Capitalization

If a citation has title case capitalization, instead of changing the first letter of every word that should not be capitalized, try the following:

  1. Highlight the title.
  2. On the Home ribbon use the Change case icon, and choose lowercase.
  3. Then, capitalize the first letter of the first word, and any others according to APA style title case capitalization.
