This guide provides resources, tools, and information on how to effectively conduct GDNP Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) research. Before you begin your research, review Evidence-Base Practice and levels of evidence to familiarize yourself with the concepts and different levels of publication types.

Library Introduction Tutorial

Library Workshop & "Certificate of Completion"

Your professor has scheduled LIBBIs, or library workshops, to equip students with the tools needed for effective research. Instruction to complete the  "Certificate of Completion," will be given at the end of the LIBBI session. Students will upload their certificate PDF to the course D2L dropbox.

A brief overview of library resources, nursing databases, and the PICO(T). Students complete the "Certificate of Completion" and upload it to their GDNP 715 D2L dropbox.

Tasks for Fun and Exploration:

  • On the library webpage, explore the Databases. Try some searching in CINAHL, MEDLINE with Full Text, OVID, or any other database.
  • Explore contents and links on this guide. Watch some of the videos.

An in-depth exploration of nursing database features, including structuring and editing searches to align with your PICO(T) framework. Also covers steps and tools for retrieving and formatting citations and creating a Reference List in APA style.

ORU Writing Center

The opens new windowWriting Center at ORU provides free service to any ORU student who needs help with academic writing. The tutors assist students at every stage of the writing process:

  • developing and organizing ideas
  • using correct grammar and punctuation
  • integrating research and
  • using various academic formats.
