The ORU Library Faculty and Staff are happy to share in these employment anniversaries.
Dr. Mark Hall has served ORU for 35 years. Dr. Hall is currently the Dean of the J.D. McKean Library and Senior Professor of English at Oral Roberts University. He currently teaches Science and the Imagination, C. S. Lewis and the Inklings, English Medieval Period, English Romantic Period, English Victorian Period, British Literature I, along with other classes. Dr. Mark Hall is excited about the J.D. McKean Library's future, and he is always happy to interact with the students. Dr. Hall has been quoted to say, “I teach to make a difference in the lives of my students so that they can make an impact for Christ in their world.” We are grateful to have Dr. Hall in the library and to celebrate his 35 years of service here at ORU.
Mrs. Jane Malcolm has served ORU for 20 years. Mrs. Malcolm is currently the Research Services Librarian. She oversees library services, coordinates the distance learner library services, and she is the library's liaison to the Fenimore and Fisher College of Business and the School of Communication and Public Affairs. Mrs. Malcolm loves assisting students with their research needs. She says: “I am thankful for the opportunity to pass on this important skill to those who will truly value and benefit from it. I am convinced that God brought me here to give me the opportunity to plant seeds in the next generation and empower them to find information that will make them more effective in whatever God has called them to do. It is a great honor to help to equip students to become whole leaders for the whole world.” We are so grateful to have Mrs. Malcolm here in the library and to celebrate her 20 years of service here at ORU.
Jennifer Horton has also served ORU for 20 years. Mrs. Horton is currently the Cataloging Assistant. She helps with cataloging new books and preparing newspapers and periodicals for patron use. She also assists with library reserves, inter-library loans, general office and clerical duties. There are so many behind the scenes activities and decisions that she helps with to keep the library collection easy for patrons to access. Mrs. Horton contributes to a fun, creative work environment. Her ideas are always inspiring to those who work with her. We are so grateful to have Mrs. Horton here in the library and to celebrate her 20 years of service here at ORU.
Daniel Eller has served ORU for 5 years. Mr. Eller is currently the Electronic Resources Librarian. His collection development areas of expertise include: AI, Augmented Reality, Behavioral Science, Biblical Studies, Church History, Computing and Mathematics, Engineering and Physics, Science and Engineering, Philosophy, and Theology. Mr. Eller has said that working with students and helping them develop a love for research and scholarship is the most rewarding part of his job. His philosophy of teaching comes from Hans-Georg Gadamer, “We cannot understand without wanting to understand, that is, without wanting to let something be said... Understanding does not occur when we try to intercept what someone wants to say to us by claiming we already know it.” We are so grateful to have Mr. Eller in the library and to celebrate his 5 years of service here at ORU.
