Example of Home Webpage with drop-down

The Library home page has a main search box for four distinct categories:

  1. EagleSearch - a "discovery" tool that searches across multiple databases and the catalog (similar to Google-search); results link to Full-Text
  2. Library Catalog - search for books (and various other resources), including links to ebooks and e-reference books
  3. Publication Finder - searches for journals (by subject matter, exact title, ISSN). Offers a "Search within this publication" feature for titles with online access.
  4. Ebooks- search for ebook titles in the ORU catalog, found both in subscription databases (e.g. Ebook Central; Credo) or titles that have been purchased (designated with single-user or 3-user or unlimited-user licenses; e.g. Ebook Central; EBSCO). Includes access to digital Reference ebooks (e.g. Gale eBooks; Credo).

Many other features can be found on this home page:

  • "Ask-a-Librarian" drop down from right side of screen
  • Blue buttons on Search Box menu: access specific databases; log-in for Off Campus Access, etc.
  • top horizontal menu with drop-down selections: About the Library; RESEARCH (use for linking to crucial tools such as the catalog; database list; Publication Finder; Digital Showcase; World Cat, etc.); Students; Distance Learners; and Faculty & Staff.
  • Hours the library is open is always displayed at the very top of the page.
  • A robust footer has valuable links to other resources frequently needed by library users (e.g. Copy Center; Eagle Card Center; Chapel, etc).
